    Philosophy

The American Institute’s philosophy is summarized in the following five methods of accomplishing the previous purpose of providing the most information with the least amount of financial investment in a reduced amount of time.

  • A forum will be provided to foster student-teacher relationships in the form of the annual Jerusalem Conference where professors gather for seminars.
  • New courses and research courses will be added regularly to the American Institute curriculum.
  • A pre-approved proctor will be required for student testing.
  • American Institute teaching forums and seminars will be held regularly nationally and internationally.

    Policies

The American Institute policies are detailed in the following requirements for each course taken.

  • American Institute admits students of any race, sex, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the American Institute. It should be noted that the courses are designed in accordance with the Jewish background of the Christian faith and may not be suited for non-believers.
  • Application procedure and all course requirements must be fulfilled in order to graduate.
  • Course costs must be paid before grades are recorded. All fees required for graduation must be balanced prior to commencement.
  • All fee refunds are subject to the following rules: Students dropping a course during the first week will receive a 100% tuition refund. Students dropping a course during the second week will receive a 70% tuition refund. Students dropping a course the third week will receive a 50% tuition refund. Procedures

The procedures for the American Institute are summarized in the following course requirements.

  • Course grades will be based on the following scale: 1/3 of the total grade comes from the lecture requirements in class, 1/3 from research in the form of developmental reading and written papers, and 1/3 from the final tests.
  • All bachelor's students will submit three three-page research papers coming from the developmental reading. These are short but detailed papers training students to use research, apply footnotes, and record the bibliography in preparation for the larger forum and research papers.
  • All master’s students must complete the five Foundational Courses as a pre-requisite to entering the Master’s program. The Master’s program consists of twelve three-credit-hour courses, for a total of fifty-one credit hours. Six courses are required, and six the student may choose. Each student is required to write a ten page paper for each course and a seventy page thesis with an emphasis on bibliographical research.
  • Tests will be administered by a proctor, someone other than a family member, living outside the home, and not a current American Institute student. The course reviews and tests will be mailed to the proctor. The proctor will ensure the student only sees the test at test time, confirm that no additional materials were used while taking the test, then mail the test to the school.
  • All course work includes thirty, sixty, ninety, and 120 day projects with the designed objective of training students to set and meet goals, to break down the prescribed work into smaller achievable assignments to avoid being overwhelmed, and to serve as a measuring tool of progress. Samples are provided to all students.
  • Students are required to purchase Dr. Moseley’s new guide to writing research papers.
  • All test questions will be formed from questions in the lectures. No additional purchases will be required.
  • Specific instructions will be given for all research-based courses upon enrollment. These courses are designed for the adult student who is actively researching and wants more of a challenge. Generally, each research-based course consists of twelve topics approved by Dr. Moseley. The student will develop a minimum of twenty lecture notes for each lecture, provide answer keys, a review, and exam.

    Practices

Each decision concerning practices is made with appropriate counsel and on an individual basis, in the best judgment according to the Board of Governors, staff, and administration. The practices listed below describe the responsibilities of the American Institute to the student.

  • Each course will have approximately twelve lectures by the same instructor.
  • Each course will have a written review before testing. Students are to notify their proctor upon completion of the course to receive the review.
  • Each course will be subject to a pre-test which will not affect the grade but is used for administrative comparisons and improvements. This practice may be avoided in some courses.
  • Each course will have a post-test used comprehensively which will determine the student’s grade.
  • The exams and course materials will not be returned to the student and should be copied for personal files prior to submission to the American Institute.
  • A cover sheet will be provided to the student with the course work and should be submitted with the appropriate documents. This cover sheet will be returned indicating satisfactory, unsatisfactory, or needed changes and will include a grade.
  • One transcript will be issued by the American Institute for each student upon graduation. Other copies or requests by other educational institutions will be provided at the cost of $3.00 each.
